| Health Concerns regarding exposure to Pollen and other airborne particulates Allergic rhinitis "Dr. Robert Overholt, an allergist in Knoxville, Tenn., said nasal allergies are responsible for 3.8 million lost school days and workdays every year. Many attacks of nasal rhinitis, also known as hay fever, are often misdiagnosed as a cold, Overholt said. Allergic rhinitis is one of the most common chronic diseases in the United States, affecting 10 percent to 30 percent of adults and up to 40 percent of children -- or somewhere between 20 million and 40 million people." Asthma is a reversible lung disease caused by the narrowing or blocking of the lung's airways, often as a response to various triggers. Asthma triggers vary from person to person, but may include cigarette and other smoke, mold, pollens, dust, animal dander, exercise, cold air, household and industrial products, air pollutants and infections. The airways of asthma sufferers are almost continuously inflamed and hyperactive, but these and other kinds of triggers can lead to spasms in the lungs, causing asthma attacks. Asthma symptoms include coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath, and can be life-threatening if not properly managed.Go back to terminal A. and push the button 4 times at one second intervals. Springtime is the peak Pollen season. The wet winter could mean more severe symptoms than in years past. --- Safety Issues --- Hay fever sufferers are up to 30 % more likely to be involved in an accidental than non-hay fever sufferers. (www.mahle-aftermarketnew.com). The most common cause for this type of accident is temporary loss of control during a sneeze. Night driving difficulties as a result of eye irritation and glare from particulate build-up on the windshield are a common saftey hazard in vehicles with a non-functional pollen filter Protection for your expensive Heating and Airconditioning Components -- Protect expensive heating and A/C components with proper particulate filtration. A/C evaporators are susceptible to this type of damage, and their function can be greatly reduced. A cabin filter works much like the filter used with your furnace and/or air conditioning system in your home. Cabin Filters trap close to 100% of airborne contaminants before they enter the interior of your vehicle through the heating and air conditioning system. Protect expensive heating and A/C components with proper particulate filtration. A/C Recommended replacement is every 12,000 to 15,000 miles, or once a year. |

| SaabŪ Turbo By-Pass Valves | |
| Turbo by-pass valves, more commonly known as "hooter valves" are necessary for performance and idle control on SaabŪ 900 turbo and 9000 turbo models alike. As part of all major and minor inspections of these models, the hooter valve should be checked. Some indications that the hooter valve is not functioning properly are; inconsistent idling, a prominent "hooting" sound on deceleration, and. or noticeably decreased vehicle performance. The hooter valve (bosch part number 0 280 142 103) on a 900 turbo is located under the intake manifold with a vacuum hose coming off it. On a 9000 turbo it is located down near the turbo also with a vacuum hose coming off it. The most effective way to diagnose a failed hooter valve is to use the one of the most prized tools you own; YOUR MOUTH. Simply disconnect the vacuum line from it's source and suck on it, if the hooter valve does not hold vacuum, it needs to be replaced. |

| MCC Panel | |
| The Manual Climate Control unit is known for having problems that can be easily avoidable. New Generation 900 models (1994-1998) and 9-3 models (1999-2003) are affected. To avoid breaking a knob or a vent selector shaft, we recommend that the driver make the selection for the desired temperature/vent combination before exiting the vehicle that they will need the following morning. For example, you pull in your driveway in late January. The temperature the following morning will be in the mid-twenties. Overnight the grease that is between the drums directing the airflow to the vents will harden in the extreme cold. By selecting the desired vent the night before, the grease is already warm from the ride home and very easily manuverable. By not doing so, the grease is very brittle as are the plastic knobs and control shaft. In the event of a broken knob, please do not use pliers to make a change in the vents. A relatively inexpensive repair could turn ugly in a hurry. This should help prolong the life or your climate control system. |
